Activating Tap to Pay

Please note that you must have the latest version (2.14.3) of the Pomelo Pay app to get started (released on 01/03/2022).

Why do you need to activate Tap to Pay?

Tap to Pay allows customers to tap their card or phone with their device to complete a sale. Say goodbye to clunky point-of-sale terminals that require regular maintenance and monthly fees - all you need is your phone! This new cutting-edge technology so before you can take secure contactless payments we need to walk you through some steps.

How to activate Tap to Pay

Step 1: Download our contactless plugin from the Google Pay store.

  • Log-in to the Pomelo Pay app, tap on the menu in the left-hand corner.

  • Go to Settings.

  • Then, go to Tap to Pay.

  • Tap Activate Tap to Pay and then follow the instructions to Download the contactless plugin.

  • Alternatively, you can download the Pomelo Pay plugin direct from the Google Play Store.

Step 2: Link the secure plugin with Pomelo Pay

  • Once you have downloaded the plugin, log back into the Pomelo Pay app and follow instructions to link the plugin.

  • This will ensure that when you generate a payment we know when to trigger the contactless plugin in the background.

How to make your first sale

  • Type in an amount on the Home screen and tap Charge £XX.XX.

  • Touch Tap to Pay.

  • Direct your customer to tap your phone with their credit/debit card or smartphone.

  • The phone will beep when payment is successful.

Note: Tap to Pay is configured to an individual mobile device to ensure your payments are secure. This means you are required to activate Tap to Pay on each mobile device you wish to take payments with.
